Hilary is an extra special girl looking for an extra special home! She spent all of her life used for breeding in a puppy mill until we sprung her out in May of 2020 to give her hope for a beautiful life. We found out after we rescued her that she was very early pregnant and had a bladder stone the size of a golf ball taking up real estate in her bladder. Due to the size of her stone, she gave birth to her puppies via c-section and had a stone removal surgery at the same time. She's since raised her puppies, they've been adopted and she got her teeth all cleaned up with 15 extractions. Hilary is a survivor and headed the right direction, but needs the perfect home to help undo the emotional harm of the puppy mill life and continue her rehabilitation.

As a puppy mill survivor, she is more comfortable with dogs than people, but bigger dogs can be scary for her. She loves to go for walks, but will take some time to earn the trust of a new home, so a standing fence is required. While her size is ideal for a smaller home, condo and apartment living would not be suitable for her as she would likely be a flight risk until she gets settled in. She is on a prescription diet to help keep her urinary tract healthy and takes anxiety medicine to help her navigate our sometimes scary world.

While she has some special needs, Hilary is a sweet dog who we hope will one day understand that humans aren't all bad and grow to be a companion dog.
