Meet our nature lover, Payton! He is a Red Heeler / Hound Mix. This handsome boy is 10 months old and weighs 47 lbs. Payton just loves exploring the outdoors and is always up for a good walk or even a hike. He does well on his leash at times, unless distracted by those pesky birds or squirrels who always seem to want to be chased, and he will try to dart after them, ( a “leave it” and a shortening of the leash help correct this.)  After his outdoor time, Payton enjoys a nice snuggle with his foster family. **Please Note: A fenced in yard is a MUST for Payton due to his high prey drive.**

Payton is an incredibly intelligent boy.  Besides knowing all of his basic commands (Sit, down, leave it, come, shake), he knows how to ring the bell to let you know he would like to go out for his walk AND he can say “I wooovvee youuuuu” when he is asked.  How cool is that?!?  He is also crate trained.

Payton’s requests for his forever family include a fenced in yard and a companion to spend his days playing with, as he just feels more confident with a buddy.  Payton has done well with children and cats that he has met on his adventures. Payton can be a tad shy at first and does require a little time to warm up and trust new people, especially men, but when given time he does fine.
