Have you been searching for a puppy but you like to sleep through the night and don’t want to potty train or deal with puppy biting? Meet Roscoe!  Roscoe is a handsome male shepherd mix and is approximately 1 year old.  He was picked up as a stray so we don’t know much about this sweet boy’s history.  Roscoe is built for speed and loves to run and fetch the ball in his foster family's yard, then relax in the sun after.  He has even joined his foster mom and dad on a few runs and made a great running partner, keeping pace and staying focused. In fact, Roscoe enjoys all adventures whether it is a walk around the neighborhood, a hike in the forest preserve, or a trip to farm and fleet. He enjoys taking in his surroundings and is able to transition from one setting to another without stress or leash pulling. 

Roscoe loves to be around people and dogs in his foster home, and isn’t afraid of anything inside or outside of the home, except baseball hats…those are scary.  He will melt to the ground for belly rubs and tucks into your lap when you scratch his ears. He loves to play/train/interact with anyone who is around and willing. Roscoe does get a little hoppy when excited, but he is working hard on keeping all four on the floor. He has been gentle when taking treats and getting pets from his 7 year old human foster brothers. 

 Roscoe is crate trained, leash trained, potty trained and he knows quite a few basic commands such as “Sit, down, off, place, drop it, leave it, wait, crate, heel, watch me, come, touch, and free.”  Roscoe doesn't work for free yet, he loves to be rewarded with treats for all of his hard work (and going in his crate nicely). Potential adopters will need to understand Roscoe is a busy, young guy and will need continued training as well as continued work on establishing household boundaries.  He learns VERY quickly and will need a family / adopter who will work on training and boundary setting by making sure he has lots of activity, toys, and puzzles to solve (a few more treats won’t hurt either).  His knowledge of foundational commands, fearlessness, and love of activity could make him a great agility dog.

 Roscoe has also proven to have some hops.  He likes to leap over his 3 ft tall foster dog-sister while playing in the yard. A tall fenced-in yard where he can show off his speed is preferred.  His current home has a large outdoor space with a very long lead to give him plenty of space to play, but he is never left unattended.
