Barley is a cautious, curious, and oh-so-sweet little gentleman! He currently weighs 38lbs and is almost a one year old! He is happy to hang out with foster mom and has warmed up well to foster dad, but his goofy personality really shines when his foster children are around! So far, Barley is something of a homebody who is just as likely to cozy up on the couch as he is to follow you from room to room. He is always very gentle when he takes his treats or gives kisses and is very respectful the two resident kitties(he’s even started asking them to play!).

Barley is not sure how he feels about walking on a leash just yet, but he’ll go if you insist! He really enjoys playing fetch with his squeaky stuffed animals, tug-of-war, ‘brain games’, and gnawing on his no-hide! He is mostly housebroken, does a great job sleeping in his crate overnight, and can be trusted to be left out for a couple of hours during the day(as long as his foster kids’ toys and shoes are put away!). He knows exactly what ‘no’ means and is mastering ‘sit’. He’s a great back-seat rider, too! 

Barley would do best with a family who is committed to gently building his confidence and continuing his training.  He has improved so much, but he still occasionally jumps up when he’s excited, so a home with children over 6 is best.  Barley is best suited for a single family home without shared walls.  A fenced yard is ideal but not necessary.  We have been told he is good with other dogs but a slow and quiet introduction is recommended.
