Meet the beautiful Miss River.  

River is an approximately 12 month old Great Pyrenees / Greyhound / Golden Retriever mix. She and her sister Rory were found wandering as strays in Tennessee.  They were severely underweight and covered in fleas and ticks.  River is now cleaned up, working on gaining weight, and ready for her forever home!  

River has proven to be a wonderful houseguest in her foster home.  She has not been crate trained, but when she is left alone she is blocked off in the kitchen area.  No counter surfing or trash digging for this girl. She hasn't tried to jump the gate or escape.  She settles quickly and waits for her human friends to return.  River currently lives with adults and teenagers in her foster home and has shown her appreciation by helping relocate clothes left on the floor by her teenaged foster siblings.  She doesn't chew them, she just happily relocates them to the room she sees best fit. Who doesn't like a little extra help with that pesky housework? 

River has a fenced in back yard in her foster home and she loves to greet strangers happily as they walk by.  A fenced in yard in her new home is not a necessity, but she would love to have one to continue to watch the world go by!  She also loves to watch out the window from inside, but when she sees her other canine friends she can be a bit vocal.  River has taken correction very well with this, but apartments or condos might not be the best fit for her. River has a medium energy level and loves a good walk, or running in the yard, as well as hanging out on the couch.  She is very playful and can entertain herself with her toys for quite a while! River has not yet met cats or smaller children in her adventures.  

River is heartworm positive and will require and adopter who is dedicated to seeing her through her treatment and recovery, which is paid for by the rescue.  A local adopter willing to bring her to treatments is necessary. 

River's adoption fee is $400
