Our little Roger was found as a stray and brought to HWAM for safe keeping. No one came looking for this little guy so we welcomed him into the family. Roger was covered in tar, burs, and severe matting so he needed to be shaved down by the groomer.  Roger is a GREAT boy and has so much potential and love to give - in the right home.  So let's talk about what that right home looks like *and* what it doesn't look like.

Roger is very skittish around new people but with a little bit of time and patience, he absolutely warms up. Because of this, Roger needs a quiet home who will give him lots of love.  Roger will do best in a home where he is the only dog. We may consider an exception with another very quiet dog. Roger will do better in a home with  no children or frequently visiting grandchildren. Older teenagers may be ok but again, this would be considered on a case by case basis.  Roger needs to learn to trust and an active household just won't give him the environment that he needs to build confidence and come into his own. Roger has been cat tested and he ignores them.  Roger is a shih tzu so we know that love bug is in there.  :) Please also keep in mind that this breed requires regular grooming, so consider that cost if you are interested in Roger.  If you think you have what it takes to help this boy grow into his own, please fill out an adoption application so you can meet his handsome boy.
