Sweet Lexie had a very rough start to life, she came from a hoarding situation down south and was never socialized before she came to HWMAR.  While Lexie is starting to trust humans, she still has a long way to go, so she is looking for a patient forever family that has the time and energy to invest in her.  She still doesn't understand the human touch fully, but loves to take treats from her fosters hand, which is a good sign. She has also started working on walking on a leash.

Lexie is crate trained and keeps her crate clean over night and sometimes lays in her crate for downtime.  While humans are still a bit scary to her, she absolutely LOVES other dogs in her foster home.  Since she lived the first months of her life with many other dogs, she would do best in a pack of dogs or with another confident resident dog that will play with her and help her continue how to learn being a dog.  She may take some extra TLC but we know that she'll eventually be a wonderful dog for the family to decides to invest in her.  Please be sure to discuss her situation with your family and make sure that everyone is on board, before applying.

Please review our adoption process & complete an application on our website - www.hoofwoofmeow.org/adoption (For the best experience please use a computer vs. your phone - application will not submit on Firefox) We adopt within a 150 mile radius of Gilberts, IL  *All of our dogs are in foster homes.*
